NHS 111

Check your symptoms, visit NHS 111 online.

Call 111 at any time, 24 hours a day. You will speak to NHS professional staff who will help guide you on any medical issue.

Appointment information

The practice offers 10 minute face to face GP consultations, 15 minute face to face consultations with the advanced nurse practitioners (ANP) and 15 minute consultations with the practice nurses.

We will also support your choice of referrals to other primary care and hospital care services for treatment or investigations.

During the 30 minutes before closing, patients will be assessed but might be referred to their GP, out of hours GP or the A&E at Whiston Hospital or Warrington General Hospital.

Practice nurse appointments

Nurses based at our practice treat patients for a wide range of common conditions (e.g. minor injuries/illnesses, removing stitches, travel vaccinations, immunisations and so on).

Our practice nurses are also specially trained to run routine clinics for certain conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, each of our nurses specialises in a different area, so you need to book ahead with the most appropriate person. Our reception staff will be able to advise whether a nurse appointment is appropriate.

Named GP

You will be allocated a named GP but you will be able to book appointments with any available clinician who is suitable to treat your problem.

Enhanced access

Additional access to primary care services on weekday evenings and a Saturday, are now available.

There are a range of clinicians and services on offer providing both face to face and telephone appointments.

Where and when?

Appointments are available at Lowehouse HCRC St Helens Merseyside WA10 2HU. You will be advised of the location at the time of booking. Any patient registered at our practice can be booked into an appointment subject to availability.

  • Monday, 5pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Tuesday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Wednesday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Thursday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Friday, 5pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Saturday, 9am to midday, GP face to face appointments
  • Alternate Saturdays, 9am to 5pm, ANP face to face appointments
  • Alternate Saturdays, 9am to 5pm and 1pm to 5pm, pharmacist appointments

How do I book?

Please call the practice and ask for an evening or weekend appointment. The member of staff will try to book you in at a time/day that suits you. Please note appointments are subject to availability.

Text message reminders

You can now register to receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care. If you wish to register for this messaging service please contact the practice.

Under data protection regulations introduced from 25th May 2018, we will continue to contact patients via text messages regarding the delivery of care if they have provided consent to do so.

If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.

If you would like to opt out of any future contact via text messaging, then please complete the form and indicate in the marked section.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If possible please try to phone reception on 01744 624806 before 10am if you require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
