Enhanced access

Additional access to primary care services on weekday evenings and weekends, are now available.

There are a range of clinicians and services on offer providing both face to face and telephone appointments.

Where and when?

Appointments are available at Lowehouse HCRC St Helens Merseyside WA10 2HU. You will be advised of the location at the time of booking. Any patient registered at our practice can be booked into an appointment subject to availability.

  • Monday, 5pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Tuesday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Wednesday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Thursday, 4pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Friday, 5pm to 8pm, ANP and pharmacist appointments
  • Saturday, 9am to midday, GP face to face appointments
  • Alternate Saturdays, 9am to 5pm, ANP face to face appointments
  • Alternate Saturdays, 9am to 5pm and 1pm to 5pm, pharmacist appointments

How do I book?

When you complete an online request or an appointment request via the telephone, just ensure you state that you need this appointment during an evening or weekend. The member of staff will try to book you in at a time/day that suits you. Please note appointments are subject to availability and may not be based at Marshalls Cross Medical Centre.

Protected Learning Time – Practice Closures

The practice will be closed each month for Protected Learning Times, this is dedicated time set aside for GP practices to complete essential staff training and development. This ensures our teams stay up to date with the latest clinical guidance, safety processes and service improvements. During PLT days, the practice will be closed from 1pm and morning appointments will continue as normal. For urgent medical help during this time, please call 111 or if it is a life threatening emergency, medical emergency or mental health emergency please call 999.

St Helens urgent treatment centre

The Millennium Centre, Corporation Street, Saint Helens WA10 1HJ Opening times:

  • Monday to Saturday, 7am to 10pm and  Sundays, 9am to 10pm for:
  • Minor cuts or wounds
  • Sore throats
  • Suspected simple fractures
  • Bites or stings
  • Rashes and  allergic reactions
  • Prescribed medication (subject to assessment)
  • Minor burns or scalds
  • Coughs and colds
  • Muscle  or joint injuries (eg. sprains and strains)
  • Earache
  • Eye injuries and infections
  • Emergency contraception

There is a dedicated X-ray unit on site.

Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
